ABOUT THE SONGS ON THE ALBUMS

The title track of the current album is the beautiful rolling rock ballad 'In the Wild Years'. Inspired by John's Paris years, when he was a street musician, it seeks to capture both the pathos and the joy of youth. Some have said it sounds like a Springsteen song, others like Bryan Adams or even The Eagles. In any event there are some brilliant guitar licks on it which are a pure joy to the ear!

'The End of the Night' and 'Sweet Salvation' are both rockers, but with a touch of class in the arrangements, while 'We're Not Lovers', 'D T Blues' and 'The Border Song' draw on that deep well of the blues form. Noteworthy are the piano and Hammond organ parts as well as some mean guitar solos. And those lusty backing vocals.

'Love Just Slips Away' is a melodic, poignant ballad; personal, yet easy to identify with.

'Turn Up the Heat' is another stand-out number, and we had thought it should be the title track. Now it closes the album. It manages to sound dark, stark, mean and sleazy all at the same time. 'This song is a nihilistic eulogy to hedonism,' its author explained.

There are just two cover-songs on that album. You can hear and download MP3 clips from the 'In the Wild Years' on the 'LISTEN' page of this website.

The new album, 'Survivor', will include Famous for Being Famous, and the country-style power-ballad Long Time Gone, of course, both of which featured in the Winter 2006 German tour (clips can be heard on the 'LISTEN' page). The album will obviously showcase the great J. Evans urban-jungle rocker I'm a Survivor, as well as other hard-rocking J. Evans compositions which have already featured in the live shows. But expect some more melodic sweet songs from John too. (notes by Michael Anders)
